This 1-day Odour Control Technician course covers odour sources, detection processes, theory of odour control, equipment, chemical options and applications. 

Students will learn how to address odours caused from biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, mold, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.


The course will include information on the following:

  • The 3 challenges removing fire & smoke odours

  • Different types of odours and challenges of each type

  • Deodorizing agents (Chemicals and types of deodorization)

  • Urine decontamination

  • Use of fogging equipment

  • Odour distinction

  • Fire / smoke odours

  • Protein odours and how to neutralize them

  • Deodorization equipment – choosing the right type for the job

  • Structural / contents deodorization principles

  • Microbiological odours (fungi, mycotoxins, bacteria, virus)
