This course teaches the application and technical skills to handle insurance claims and jobs in the restoration sector. It’s no secret the insurers want more from the contractor in the area of skilled technical expertise, file management and the science of drying. Sustainable restoration practices are expected as part of your services and drying results.

This training promotes the highest industry standards and practices to improve skills and develop new skills in mitigation. We work closely with your team to develop sustainable drying practices and effective job approaches that serve all material interested parties.

Students will learn:

  • Necessary equipment calculations and application of drying equipment
  • Equipment choices and types for the best drying results
  • Learn about the Lifecycle of a Claim
  • Identify the Category and Classes of water
  • The Science behind the drying – Psychrometry
  • Use of the psychrometric chart and how to determine the GPP
  • Vapour pressure differential and its impact on the drying cycle
  • The 8 components of a standardized contents pack out in water claims
  • How to calculate the equipment loads and balance electrical requirements
  • Ensuring the documentation meets all drying requirements and is estimated accordingly
  • The 8 components of a standardized contents protocol
  • Understand the complexities of claims management
  • Drying hardwood and hard to dry item, mat placement and temperature controls


This training program serves all roles and responsibilities in the company, working in each department as whole to get results in mitigation practices. Hands on will require the students to demonstrate skills in a real life setting and testing will complete their designations. Each phase of mitigation is evaluated, and processes are put in place to ensure smooth drying and job setting.


Examination includes a practical exam and written portion with a passing grade of 75% required to award certification.


A supplement charge of $100 per participant will be billed for hands on materials 
if selected to complete the program.

All of her experience in and out of the field has led her to become one of the foremost experts in property and an award winning instructor. Stephanie maintains a triple master designation and is a certified credentialing specialist in Canada. Stephanie serves on the certification council and spends time on various committees offering technical and practical support; she is sought after as one of the four most experts in property claims and is known for her no holds barred approach.
Stephanie is an approved instructor in Odour Control, Fire & Smoke Restoration, Applied Structural Drying, Applied Microbial Remediation Technician, Water Damage Restoration Technician Health and Safety Technician, and Trauma and Crime Scene Technician.
